DSCN99683Here’s the first catch of 2018. Catharina from the Russian River area of Sonoma County reported this beautiful aerial chimeric albino redwood. Based on the age of the branch it appears that the albino mutation occurred somewhere in the 2014-2015 time frame. Woven through the foliage are beautiful sectorial (yellow & green) needles. What’s interesting in the growth pattern is its change of coloration. Some years exhibit yellowish white albino foliage only to revert back green in the next. This indicates that some parts of this albino chimera have characteristics of the rare periclinal sub group.

Thanks again Catharina for reporting this to Chimera Redwoods!
